Anyone know what medical condition this is?

I have only ever seen two people (both male, in their 50s) with this skin condition. They appeared to have marble sized growths all over their body, particuarly face, neck and arms. but generally everywhere. I feel quite sorry for them. One worked at a fruit market, and the other goes to my gym. I know its probably not contagious, otherwise theyd probably not be permited to be placed in these situations where the condition could be contracted by others. However, I have no idea what this condition is, and I'd like to know. Anyone have any clues?
Answer:
I know (have seen) the condition you are speaking of. A man who belongs to our benevolent association has this condition. They do appear to be like marbles under the skin with no difference in color than normal skin. Let me look a little and see if I can get an answer for you.The condition is a form of Lipoma. This is characterized by one to many benign, fatty tumors found in the subcutenous layer just below the skin.

Anyone know what is good to get rid of acne marks?

Answer:
Yes! If you have very deep acne pitted acne marks, laser and microdermabrasion would be the best choices. I had it and results are wondreful. Also, the next best thing after laser would be Jan Marini Factor A Plus Lotion, or Jan Marini Bioclear Lotion. I feel that if I knew about them earlier, I wouldn't probably even need expensive laser treatments. Jan Marini you ran buy at www. dermstore.com. It's a professional line skincare.

Anyone know of assistance for people in the real world?

We always fall between the cracks with assistance. My insurance Co. is backing out leaving us with over $50,000 in bills, plus the needed hormone therapy and thrice weekly Interferon shots. My wife's an RN. That puts us above the income bracket for help right off. However, realistically, with rent, electricity, gas, groc. and an insurance company that wants my money without providing a service, her income barely gets us by w/out the med. bills. Me, I'm an educated Janitor. Don't go there. I have my reasons, and most folks wouldn't understand w/out thinking, "Well! He's just a loser!"
Go to www.histio.org and search Erdheim-Chester Disease to get a handle on me. It's ongoing and life threatening w/out Interferon. Folks w/ it die w/in 3-5 yrs of congestive heart failure. Okay. I'll shut-up, now. :)
Answer:
Most of the time Medicaid will help you if you have a serious condition even if you do make too much. They rarely turn down cases like yours because the fact that without help you will die. You need to go up to the local office fill out all the paper work and do what it says. Then turn it in and they should set up an appoinment for you. Then just explain to the lady why you need help. How do you know they won't help unless you try.

Anyone know of a treatment for Mollescum contagiosum?

Answer:
They can be scraped off easily with a sterile instrument called a curette. This is usually done by dermatologist, but if properly trained anyone can do it without scarring.
Yikes! Antibiotics?

Anyone know of a cure for diaper rash that won't go away?

I've used all the regular creams and pastes on him. It's not bleeding or itchy, but it very red and bumpy. Poor little guy. Anyone know of something stronger?
Answer:
My daughter had a horrible one when she was a baby, and I too tried everything. Then my pediatrician told me to mix cornstarch and vaseline together unill it forms kind of a paste. Rub that on the rash. Everytime you change him clean the area with a cloth dampened in warm water, the reapply the paste. He'll get immediate relief and it will heal very quickly. I still make this stuff even now for heat rashes, etc. It's like a magic cure all for skin rashes. I hope it's gone quickly for him! Good luck.
baby powder.
lanolin worked for our kids
Hi, when my daughter was a baby i used Penatin (spelling?) cream and if that didnt work I went to the doctor and got a prescription. Hope this helped
Hi there,A perfect cream for nappy rash is 'Bepanthen', it IS THE BEST. check website below!
I sounds like a yeast infection, not a diaper rash. If you take him to the doctor you will probably get a prescription for niacin. You can also try an over-the-counter like monistat. If this has persisted for a while, it may be an allergy to the diapers, if you use disposables. You know how there are beads in disposable diapers that turn to gel when wet? This is a synthetic chemical and many infants are allergic. Try switching to a different brand of diaper, or use cloth. Cotton diapers can compound the rash if it's not an allergy, so try a fleece diaper. Fleece wicks moisture away from the skin. Something like this may do the trick:
http://www.envirobabystore.com/displaypr...If you're already using cloth diapers and the rash is not a yeast infection, it may be a chemical burn caused by your laundry detergent.
My daughter was allergic to her disposable diapers. Maybe its not diaper rash but an allergic reaction?

Anyone know much about laser resurfacing for scars?

I recently had correctional surgery for a scar I've had since I was young. About 2 1/2 months ago, the surgon cut it back open (it was indented) and stitched it up to create a new scar. Two days ago I went back in to have him do laser resurfacing and now I'm reading more about it online. The area is completely bloody and looks like a 3rd degree burn with a bunch of discharge. Is this normal or did the surgeon take laser too far?
Answer:
My friend had this done about a year ago and the same thing happened to her. It healed quite nicely. If you are worried about it though, call and make a follow-up appointment so they can check it for you.

Anyone know how long Pistachios have been around?

Answer:
For millions of years. However, they recently evolved to their most perfect form when Ben %26 Jerry added them to their "Pistachio, Pistachio!" ice cream. Trust me on that one. It is heavenly.
They are ancient...First cultivated in western Asia. Ihave seen references in the bible for this particular nut.

Anyone know anything about mesenteric adenitis?

my son keeps getting recurrent infections in his tonsils/chest/throat etc, but complains of severe stomach ache on every occasion. i thought it might be appendicitis but drs say thats all ok. they mentioned something called mesenteric adenitis, saying that it was the glands in his stomach reacting to the infection, thus causing the pain. was just wondering if anyine knew anything more about it, as im really worried for him. this has been going on for 6 months now, and hes been off school these past 3 weeks with the latest bout.
Answer:
Mesenteric adenitis is an inflammation of the mesenteric lymph nodes in the abdomen. If it occurs in the right lower quadrant, it can easily be mistaken for acute appendicitis. The frequent association of this condition, especially in children with upper respiratory tract infection, has popularized a theory that swallowed pathogen-laden sputum may be the primary source of infection.an ultrasound or laporotomy can accurately diagnose causes, and treatment can then be correctly proscribed.because of the inability to exclude apendicitis in some cases as a possible cause, sometimes an apendectomy can be performed in view of the tendency for recurrence of lymphadenitis and the difficulty in differentiating adenitis from appendicitis.
This is inflammation in the lymph glands inside the abdomen and around the intestines.Anything that involves the lymphatic tissue involves the immune system. Try to boost his immune system by taking Acidophilus supplements - or preferably a mixed blend of acidophilus and other elements which encourage the growth of these beneficial bacteria in the gut.In addition to this, I would advise cutting out milk and dairy for a few weeks, and also taking Echinacea or Echinacea with vitamin C. This herb can help boost the immune system and deal with any underlying infections.I hope this helps, but do get back to me if he doesn't settle.

Anyone know any tips to stop really itchy bug bits?

i have masquito bits all over my arms and they itch like crazy. i try putting cold ice packs and things on them, and it helps, but for only like a minute. any other ideas??and please dont give me any stupid answers like "use bug spray next time"
i appreciate it...thanks.
Answer:
Allergy medications work well to stop the itch. Allegra, Benedryl, whatever you have containing an antihistamine. You can also get Benedryl in a spray for your skin or an oatmeal bath is great also. If you can go all day with out scratching mosquito bites, they will go away. When I get bit, I just don't scratch and by morning I have a small bump but no itch. Good luck!
apply ointment would help ;)
Try using some Aoe Vera Gel.It worked for me when I had mosquito bites.
Phnergen, antihistimines, anti-allergy tablets
Ice can make your skin numb.so use them.

Anyone know any natural cures for MRSA Staph Infections?

My friend was in a motorcycle crash 10 months ago, they amputated from mid-calf, then removed 3 more inches after staph, then 2 more inches 3 weeks ago. He went in last night and has MRSA Staph (again). They are talking about amputating again. Are there any salves or natural cures, that will help! Pretty soon he will lose his whole leg if they keep going!! Help Please!!
Answer:
I don't know of any medicine, natural or not to stop Staph. The problem is that you get it mostly from being in the hospital.
goldenseal is a natural antibiotic that MAY succeed where manmade ones have failed, but manmade ones are typically FAR more effective.
This is a severe infections also contagious I have known 2 people to have died from it. Its more out there in the public than it use to be. AND all of us carry it in are nose. but usually only effects sick or elderly. He needs not to mess around with home cure keep doing what doctor tells him. Or he could loose more than his legs.
NO, there are no medications, natural or otc, that can help. Staph is deadly and very serious. If he messes with the infection and doesnt get it treated correctly, he risks getting into his blood stream. At that point, he will become extremely sick. He might want to ask what he can do to keep the area sterile while it heals.
The only thing you can do is to consult to a doctor for the best medication, before it's too late.

Anyone know about toxic epidermal necrolysis?

need help to understand this
Answer:
Background: Described in 1956 by Alan Lyell, toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) is a rapidly evolving mucocutaneous reaction characterized by widespread erythema, necrosis, and bullous detachment of the epidermis resembling scalding.TEN represents the most severe variant of a disease spectrum that consists of bullous erythema multiforme (EM) and Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS). Each of the disorders shares common features including widespread distribution of skin lesions, predominantly on the trunk and face with involvement of one or more mucus membranes.A classification system based largely on the extent of epidermal detachment and morphology of the skin lesions helps in differentiating the disease entities. * Bullous EM - Epidermal detachment less than 10% of body surface area involved with typical localized target lesions or “raised atypical targets” * SJS - Epidermal detachment less than 10% of body surface area involved with widespread erythematous or purpuric macules or flat atypical targets * Overlap SJS-TEN - Epidermal detachment between 10-30% of body surface area with widespread erythematous or purpuric macules or flat atypical targets * TEN "with spots" - Epidermal detachment greater than 30% of the body surface area with widespread purpuric macules or flat atypical targets * TEN "without spots" - Epidermal detachment greater than 30% of the body surface area in large epidermal sheets and without purpuric macules or targetlike lesions. Histopathologic examination is necessary in differentiating these disorders from other severe bullous skin diseases such as staphylococcal scalded skin syndrome or paraneoplastic pemphigus. Initial ED management is therefore supportive.Pathophysiology: Multiple pathophysiologic mechanisms have been proposed, although an immune-complex mediated phenomenon is likely responsible. One accepted theory suggests that accumulation of drug metabolites in the epidermis of genetically predisposed individuals induces an immunologic process analogous to that which occurs in graft-versus-host disease. CD8+ T lymphocytes and macrophages activate an inflammatory cascade, leading to widespread apoptosis of epidermal cells.Frequency: * Internationally: Worldwide, 0.4-1.2 cases per million population occur each year. Mortality/Morbidity: TEN has a mortality rate of 30-40%. Epithelial loss results in vulnerability to bacterial and fungal infections and predisposes to septicemia, the leading cause of morbidity and mortality. Mucosal membranes are affected to a varying extent and can cause GI hemorrhage, respiratory failure, ocular abnormalities, and genitourinary lesions. Significant fluid loss from extensive skin lesions as well as an inability to tolerate oral intake can lead to hypovolemia, acute tubular necrosis, and shock. * A severity-of-illness score that estimates the risk of death in TEN has been developed and validated (SCORTEN). o Age %26gt;40 years
o Heart rate %26gt;120 beats per minute
o Cancer or hemopathy
o Involved body surface area %26gt;10%
o Blood urea nitrogen %26gt;10 mmol/L (10 mEq/L)
o Serum bicarbonate %26lt;20 mmol/L (20 mEq/L)
o Blood glucose 14 mmol/L (252 mg/dL) * Mortality rates based upon the number of positive criteria are as follows: o 0 to 1 factor = 3%
o 2 factors = 12%
o 3 factors = 35%
o 4 factors = 58%
o 5 or more factors = 90% Age: SJS and TEN usually occur in adults but may be seen in children. Age older than 40 years is an independent risk factor for mortality.
basically necrosis is the dying or eating away of nerves and your skin, also known as the epidermis..in short it means the nerves and cells of the skin are being eaten away and can form lesions, decay, etc, making the patient more susecptible to bacterial and fungal infections...can result in skin loss on the affected area of the body!

Anyone know a sure cure for catarrh?

a cough caused by post nasal drip which causes the cough day and night.
Answer:
The two answers before mine I was able to read suggested "things" to deal with it, but they didn't offer how to cure it or get rid of it. And the Vicks idea will only increase the mucus. So this may come as a shock to you but the simplest way I've suggested to people is to buy Sudafed which is a nasal decongestant! This is sold over the counter and even Wal-Mart sells its version off name brand. You can check the name brand to off brand ingredients to ensure your getting what you want. This can also be found sold in dollar stores.Bad breath has many causes but one is from mucus in the nose which can drip down the throat while sleeping. Also sleeping with the mouth open doesn't help. Before I married my hubby, he had this and it drove me crazy after I married him and found out about it! He insisted the doctors were right and if it was so easy to correct, they would have! He had a snot locker nose full all day long, bad breath, snoring, dry throat, TOOTH infections, sleep apnea, tired upon waking and so much more! Well don't figure! He and his doctors knew better so I suffered sleeping with him (sometimes couldn't so I slept on the couch) for about 9 years! Until one day I forced him to take Sudafed. Funny how I was able to prove to him they were wrong and I was right!! Now married over 26 years and happy to sleep in the same room, all his problems are in his past!By the way: I found Sudafed the first time I was pregnant! My OBGYN recommended it when I was so sick with an upper resp infection and couldn't take anything else! My doctor NEVER allows and meds while preg so I was amazed when he said how safe it was for me and the BABY. Now with six healthy children of our own and several fostered over the years plus two Grandchildren added to the fold, we have all learned the benefits of Sudafed and PREVENTING catarrh instead of dealing with the effects! Side note: When my hubby first started the Sudafed, he increased the dose to 2 every 3 hours around the clock which was approved by my doc.
Self-help: Always blow your nose gently, one nostril at a time, keeping your mouth open; if you blow both nostrils together, catarrh may be forced up eustachian tube and cause Middle ear infection, and if you keep your mouth closed air may be pushed up the eustachian tube with such force that it ruptures the eardrum. Inhaling hot steam helps to decongest the airways, but do not use Friar鈥檚 balsam or other additives as these may antidote whatever homeopathic remedy you are taking; by the same token, dry air is bad for a stuffed up nose, so make an effort to humidify the rooms where you work or sleep, especially if they have central heating.
Put some VICKS in a bowl of hot water, hold your head over it with a towel over your head so the steam does not escape, breath in the steam,
Yes but it's not pleasant. Get a large jug, and add whiskey, then add a chopped onion, a chopped or sliced lemon, one crushed clove of garlic and quite a lot of honey. Then top the whole thing up with boiling water. Stir for a while, Then sieve into a glass or mug and drink through out the day.
Trust me, this really works, and works well. And it doesn't taste as bad as it sounds, as all you really taste is the lemon and honey. Your breath wont be the best but at least you wont be able to small it. You'll notice a real difference after the first glass/mug full.Hope you're feeling better soon x

Anyone know a good medication for Asthma?

I have a case of asthma that will not go away. I have about 4 inhalers and I take xopenex ( I think that's how you spell it.) on a nebulizer. Still, I cough all the time and people say i always look pale and sick. A lot of the time I get pulled out of school because I have suchh severe attacks that I can't breathe. Suggestions?
Answer:
Xopenex is a personal fave for nebulizer meds so your good there. Possibly adding Pulmicort an inhaled steroid and/or Advair to your regemin may make a difference. The inhaled steroids work as a maintenece medication and help keep your airways calm and uninflamed. I highly recommend adding one. Also Atrovent or Spiriva, they are a different type of bronchodilator so they can be taken with the Xopenex and have a different effect on your lungs. Hope this helps.
Ummm, albuterol, its an inhalant. If those dont work...deal with it, I've had asthma since I was born.
go back to the Dr,get a higher dose of the inhaler you use and make sure you use it as said to
Try breathing exercise and if you loose control of your asthma attack it won't help things. Try yoga
hey i hav asthma 2! i use ventalin and seratide 2 puffs of each. and i've alwaiz used it and i neva coughed since but i recommed seeing your doctor first because i might have spelt the names wrong and he might not want u 2 take that medication!
Xoponex and Albuterol are bronco dilators. Meaning that they make your air passages open up by becoming bigger. In cases of asthma, this is a great thing. However, not all wheezing is asthma. Instead of treating your symptom (wheezing) perhaps you and your doctor should treat the cause of your breathing difficulties. Many times wheezing is caused by an histamine response, so you may be allergic to something. An allergist may be able to help you a great deal.
My dad suffers from asthma and was given last rights twice as a child. Now he's on a trial prescibed from the doctor called symbicort (I think that's right) and he's doing much much better. Staying fit and healthy is important too for stronger lungs and heart. I suggest you talk to your doctor and good luck.
I also have asthma. However, it is mild and is triggered by certain things like pets, dust, smoke and can also be exercise induced. What I can suggest is doing a clean up of your bedroom or even your house. It can be the simplest thing such as dust mites on your bed sheets or the dust on the air that keeps causes your cough and all the other symptoms that are associated to asthma. Nonetheless, asthma varies from person to person but if you try what I have suggested this may make a huge difference in your everyday. The need for the use of the inhalers could possibly lessen by 50% or more. As far a medicine for asthma, you may be already using what is offered out there. This website may be helpful...check it out http://www.asthma.ca/adults/about/...
Hey go here http://www.fsponline-recommends.co.uk/sa... or look up Salt Pipe. Ok I know it sounds weird but go and read it and if you get one and it works, share the good news. I'm going to buy one for my wife.
my son is on xopenex, pulmocort, astilin, flonase advair, patenol, and zyrtec. For him keeping his allergies under control greatly decreases his asthma symptoms. Talk to your doctor about allergy testing and see if a change of food enviroment or something will help
First and foremost it is imperative that you work closely with your doctor and a pulmonologist. If you are not already taking an inhaled corticosteriod, this may be a route to explore, this aids in long term management. Xopenex is an excellent bronchodilator, however it does not have a very fast onset. You may need to consider switching to Albuterol. Just be careful not to use both at the same time. One of the best things that you can do to control your asthma and know if an attack is coming on, is the use of a peak flow meter. I cannot stress enough how effective this very easy to use tool is. I have seen it prevent many severe attacks that otherwise would have resulted in hospitalization. Ask you doctor or a Respiratory Therapist how this tool can most benefit you.

Anyone here ever had their gallbladder taken out?

Apprently my gallblader isn't working right and I need to have it removed. (Laparoscopic surgery). I was just wondering how you felt after the surgery.was there any pain when you woke up, and for how long do you have to recover? Do they give you pain meds when you leave the hospital, and finally...how are you now? Did you have to change your diet? Any info will help.thanks
Answer:
Yes, I had my gallbladder removed a few years ago. Before every time I would eat greasy foods or ice cream, hotdogs, things like that I would end up throwing up because the gallbladder was not functioning properly. I had an ultrasound done first and I had several stones and one was blocking the main duct. My surgeon friend advised a Laproscopic surgery. It was done without any complications. Yes, there is pain but it was not severe. At first I was given narcotic-Demerol-injections for pain. After the day was over and I could keep water and food down without vomiting(which is sometimes a problem after anesthesia. My IV was removed and I was given pain medication by mouth, which was strong enough to help with the pain. I spent the night in the hospital and was discharged the next morning with a prescription for pain and an antibiotic. Yes, you will be sore for awhile, but it's not bad. The only change I was told in my diet, was to lay off of fatty, greasy foods, and to work them slowly into your diet. If you have greasy foods right away you will become nauseous and crummy. Sometimes the doctor may remove the stones and leave the gallbladder. I asked for the complete removal, I didnot want to go through the same surgery again. I would highly suggest that you talk with your doctor. He or she will give you instructions for after the surgery. He will also inform you as what to expect before you have an operation. Sounds like you are a little bit frightened, that is quite normal. Remember- Ask your doctor questions- anyone that you need the answers for- that their job. Take care and I hope you have a speedy recovery and try not to worry too much. Ask questions to the medical staff.
I had mine taken out in 1993. I had two other things wrong too, so I had to stay in hospital for 13 days, but usually, just the Gall Bladder surgery, you are only in there three or four days.
I had a little pain, but not much. It is recommended that you rest and eat certain foods, for about a week. Yes, you get some pain meds when you leave the hospital.
Right now, I'm doing fine, but I have to be careful on how much greasy foods I eat. After a month or so, you will be fine.
I had it done in Jan unfortunately for me I was part of the 1% of the population that had an extra duct from the liver and it was not seen so I had complications. I had to wear a tube for a month. Anyways its all good now but usually it goes without a hitch. You have to have it out because its not good to have it in when its not working and maybe you have stones. Now that I have it out the only problem and I dont really call it a problem but I have bowel movements alot softer..but I feel great.
my mom. she felt sore and she had terrible scars. she said she was glad she did it though. she had to have it. she had a gallstone. ouch! yes they prob will give u some pills to tkae for pain afterwards. not to take all the time though... yes you have to eat a little lighter. she cant eat big meals or allot of food ea. day. she cant hold alot w/ it gone. she can still eat, cut not like 6 meals aday. and she had to pay bills for it. that's all i can say, and i hope u make it through it. stay healthy!
Well I didnt have it taken out but one of my family members did in 2004 and he said it felt like someone punched him in the stumache and his shoulder felt weird after the surgery. After he had it taken out he ate simple foods that were easy to digest and he's fine now. He was in the hospital for a few days and he felt better after about a week. I don't know if they give him pain meds or not.
Mine was out the same way about 9 years ago, I was out within 4 hours. Yes most will give you some vicoden, since I have a chronic illness I did not find the pain bad at all after I woke, just a bit sore. I have liver disease so I can't give a true assesment of how i am doing (I have pretty severe Lupus), but I do know I am much improved. and yes diet change is a big help. I dont deprive, but I don't eat fast food more than once a week, and I do have a sweet tooth, but try to hold back, and keep it to dark chocolate, and the occasional few bites of ice cream, try to stay away from white starchy food, I dont like fried food so thats not an issue, and I may have a couple drinks a year. Also, I have three little whitish scars, that are a it raised, they don't bother me much. I have much larger ones, lol.
Good Luck
chris
My wife had it done, its a very safe procedure and recovery is in no time at all, and the scar is so small you can hardly see it, nothing to worry about. Good luck.
Gallbladder surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her Hernia and colostomy surgery in India by a company called Indian Health Guru Consultants. The Price for Minimal Invasive and Laparoscopy surgery is very less in India. She paid 25% of the cost she was quoted in America.Indian Health Guru Consultants is very famous in India. They arrange Hernia, Appendectomy, Thyroid and other laparoscopy surgery for foreigners in India.
I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low price, as the Hernia, Colostomy and other minimal invasive surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.http://www.indianhealthguru.com...
Hope this helps.

Anyone heard of INTERSTITIAL CYSTITIS?

I have been going to the dorctor since last year form urinary prombles . I have had ploymps removed and still with pain. Doc said that I might have this.. Anyone else?
Answer:
Interstitial cystitis (IC) is a condition that results in recurring discomfort or pain in the bladder and the surrounding pelvic region. The symptoms vary from case to case and even in the same individual. People may experience mild discomfort, pressure, tenderness, or intense pain in the bladder and pelvic area. Symptoms may include an urgent need to urinate (urgency), a frequent need to urinate (frequency), or a combination of these symptoms. Pain may change in intensity as the bladder fills with urine or as it empties. Women's symptoms often get worse during menstruation. They may sometimes experience pain with vaginal intercourse
Yes, my mother has a pretty nasty case of it, and unfortunately, there's nothing in the way of a cure. It's believed to be an auto-immune disease, in the same way diabetes is - the body is attacking itself, and nobody really knows why. If you can, avoid acidic foods like tomatoes, and drink plenty of water. If you have not already consulted a urologist, I urge you to do so.Good luck!
I am not clear why you didn't get more informed before leaving your physicians office. However, this is a condition caused by inflammation of the tissues of the bladder wall. This condition is often misdiagnosed as a urinary tract infection. The symptoms you experience are that of frequent urination, pelvic pain, and even pain during intercourse. Elmiron is the only medication taken by mouth that is specifically approved for the treatment of IC. This medicine coats the bladder like Pepto-Bismol coats the stomach. Hope this helps.
Bladder cell inflamation. My mom is a nurse (RN) I might have not gotten all my facts straight, but go to this wed site--www.evenbetternow/inters...
If your urologist has made this diagnosis over a year ago and has not given you a definite plan then I would be looking for a new one. This disease is a serious, difficult to manage situation. Find the best Urologist in your area and do all in your power to make an appointment. My brother in law will have his Bladder removed in two weeks due to what he feels is improper treatment of this condition over the past 14 months. I would not give you advice except to see the best and pursue the rigorous treatment to keep it under control.
Good evening
In order to find out you have ic, you have to go through the process of elminating other chronic illinesses that have the same symptoms. I have ic and I am in remission. There is no cure at this time, but there is remission. One of symptoms is the foods we eat irritate the bladder. Acidic fruits, Feels like a bladder infection with no infection. Takes time to get diagnosed for the most part, don't know your symptoms so not sure if you have them. You are welcome to join my online ic support. We have over 1200 members who offer support and updated information when possible. Good luck and don't give up, you will find what is wrong.

Anyone have Restless Legs Syndrome?

How do you deal with it? (Any ideas other than the drugs)
Answer:
I have RLS; unfortunately, the best treatment options are drugs. However, I have found that inactivity worsens the symptoms, so getting in some walking on a daily basis helps alleviate the symptoms (but nothing gets rid of the condition), and taking calcium supplements also seems to make the condition a little worse (I have also read this on medically-reviewed articles). Caffeine also aggravates the symptoms in many people. Anything that will help you sleep, even over-the-counter sleep aids, like diphenhydramine (Benadryl), help out since the problem is usually just getting quality sleep, so maybe try a tukey sandwich (containing tryptophan, a natural sleep-enhancer, one reason why people are so sleepy on Thanksgiving afternoon, is contained in high amounts in turkey). Good luck!
well, considering RLS can be a symptom of a larger picture, i'd do what i could to rule out all possibilities first and then go from there. those with lupus, hepatitis c as well as other viral infections have a higher incidence of rls. i had hcv. i had rls as well as fibro. once they found the root cause, i treated and responded.water seems to be a wonderous thing too-it keeps your body hydrated and flushed of toxins that could cause rls by passing the blood brain barrier.
I get it really bad sometimes when I go to bed, after standing pretty much all day.
I try to flex my toes to break the concentration on my calves.
I hate it.
beer or two
My wife has that I believe , but has not been examined or seen the doctor about it , she does hit herself in the legs when she has the problem , I think she should stop doing that and get checked , but I've been unsuccessful in convincing her to listen to me. I sometimes have the problem though very rarely so as it's not a problem generally.

Anyone have asthma?

So I was just diagnosed with seasonal asthma. And I was working out a little bit ago, just running incline for 15 minutes and i had an asthma attack! How the heck can you work out when you have asthma? Please help, tips are very much welcomed. thank you so much!
Answer:
I never use my inhaler before I work out, but I do use it if an attack comes on while working out. Eventually, you will build up your endurance and be able to run longer even though you have asthma. Also, try taking deep breathes while running. try not to pant... and try not to panic when an attack comes on. I used to bring my inhaler into the gym with my towel or put it in my pocket. Just make sure to have it near you.Good luck.p.s. Did you ask if the doc could put you on Singulair or Accolate? It is a pill that helps with allergies and/or asthma. It could make your asthma almost nonexistant!
Do a couple of puffs from your inhaler 15 minutes before you exercise. It helps me a lot.
Use your fast acting inhaler (proair hfa, albuterol, etc...) 15 minutes before you try to run or do any activity that will give you an asthma attack. If you use it before, it will prevent it.
oh i'm sorry, i feel bad for you. i have known people who have that but unfourtunitly i don't know, but good luck!
so I was just diangesed with asthma
have they diagnosed you particular asthma? plants, trees??
do you have an inhaler? if not ask your doctor about it. my doctor thought i had exercise induced asthma but i went to another doctor (my chiropracter actually) and fought out that i dont have asthma. im actually allergic to corn. corn makes my breathing all messed up and since i havent eaten corn i havent used my inhaler.
I've known about my asthma all my life, and I can say that it can get in the way, but can never stop you. Just always have an emergency inhalor, and take things slow when exercising.
Honey:
Athletes of all ages have ashtma. Seasonal asthma is more allergy related. The best temperature and climate for you to be in is approx 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Weather can certainly trigger asthma. Many factors can actually. please try to pay attention to the allergens in the atmosphere. You can retrive that information on the local weather channel or on line daily. You may want to illuminate things that can also trigger attacks such as food. i.e. peanuts dairy etc. There are many great informative books at your local library or book store with asthma related topics. As long as your asthma is treated properly and controlled you can live with and do all the things you have always done. I was born with ashtma and it is chronic. I never let that stop me from living my life.
Good Luck and God Bless you.
Having asthma and being an athlete can be dealt with...I have had asthma since I was 9 and something that I have learned is trying to dress warm while running in the cold. The coldness triggers asthma. Also, I would suggest you breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. 80% of people who have asthma also have allergies and you are not alone. If you follow some of my few suggestions you should be fine. Also, keep your inhaler with you at all times because chest tightness is a sign of asthma trust me it is not pleasant when you run.
If we offered you a miracle remedy that Cures "Asthama" would you buy it? Certainly you would. You won鈥檛 find it in a Pharmacy but at the Grocery Store.Try the Natural Cures for Asthama.Asthma is an ancient Greek word meaning " panting or short-drawn breath." It is the most troublesome of the respiratory diseases. The asthma patient gets frequent attacks of breathlessness in between which he is completely normal.Symptoms: Patients suffering from asthma appear to be gasping for breath. Actually, they have more trouble exhaling than inhaling because the air passages of the small bronchi become clogged and constricted with mucus, thus making it difficult for the patient to breathe out. All asthmatics have more difficulty at night, especially during sleep. The onset of asthma is either gradual or abrupt. Sudden onsets are often preceded by a spell of coughing which may be associated with itching of the chin, the back of the neck or chest. When the onset is gradual, the attack is usually brought on by respiratory infection. A severe attack causes an increase in heartbeat and respiratory rates and the patient feels restless and fatigued. There may be coughing, tightness in the chest, profuse sweating and vomiting. There may also be abdominal pain, especially if coughing is severe. Foggy weather aggravates the symptoms. An asthmatic attack begins when the bronchial tubes in the lungs become constricted. The tubes having become narrow, the inhaled air becomes trapped in the tiny air sacs at the end of the tubes, making the release of breath difficult. The wheezing sound identified with asthma is produced by the air being pushed through the narrowed bronchi.Causes: Mainly bronchial in its symptoms, asthma is caused by a variety of factors. For many it is an allergic condition resulting from the reaction of the system to the weather, food, drugs, perfumes, and other irritants which vary with different individuals. Allergies to dust are the most common. Some persons are sensitive to the various forms of dust like cotton dust, wheat dust and paper dust, some pollens, animal hair, fungi and insects, especially cockroaches. Foods which generally cause allergic reactions are wheat, eggs, milk, chocolates, beans, potato, pork, and beef. For others, asthma may result from the abnormal body chemistry involving the system鈥檚 enzymes or a defect in muscular action within the lungs. Quite often, however, asthma is precipitated by a combination of allergic and non-allergic factors including emotional tension, air pollution, infections, and hereditary factors. It has been estimated that when both parents have asthma or hay fever, in 75-100% cases, the offspring also has allergic reactions.Treatment: Modern medical system has not been able to find a cure for this crippling disease. Drugs and vaccines have only limited value in alleviating symptoms. Most of these are habit forming and the dose has to be increased from time to time to give the same amount of relief. The frequent introduction of drugs in the system, while giving only temporary relief, tends to make asthma chronic and incurable. Allergy - which is the immediate cause of asthma - itself is an indication of lowered resistance and internal disharmony caused by faulty eating and bad habits. This is the root cause and the real cure lies in a return to nature. The natural way to treat asthma consists of stimulating the functioning of slack excretory organs, adopting appropriate diet patterns to eliminate morbid matter and reconstruct the body, and practicing yogasanas, yogic kriyas and pranayamas to permit proper assimilation of food and to strengthen the lungs, digestive system and circulatory organs. The patient should be given an enema to clean the colon and prevent autointoxication. Mudpacks applied to the abdomen will relieve the fermentation caused by undigested food and will promote intestinal peristalsis. Wet packs should be applied to the chest to relieve the congestion of the lungs and strengthen them. The patient should be made to perspire through steam bath, hot footbath, hot hipbath, and sunbath. This will stimulate the skin and relieve congested lungs. The patient should fast for a few days on lemon juice with honey and thereafter resort to a fruit juice diet to nourish the system and eliminate the toxins. Gradually, solid foods can be included. The patient should, however, avoid the common dietic errors. Ideally, his diet should contain a limited quantity of carbohydrates, fats and proteins which are acid-forming foods, and a liberal quantity of alkaline foods consisting of fresh fruits, green vegetables and germinated gram. Foods which tend to produce phelgm such as rice, sugar, lentils and curds as also fried and other difficult-to-digest foods should be avoided. Breakfast may consist of prunes, orange or berries or a few black raisins with honey. Lunch and dinner should consist of a salad of raw vegetables such as cucumber, lettuce, tomato, carrot and beets, one or two lightly cooked green vegetables and wheat bread. The last meal should preferably be taken before sunset or at least two hours before going to bed.Asthamtics should always eat less than their capacity. They should eat slowly, chewing their food properly. They should drink 8-10 glasses of water a day, but should avoid taking water or any liquid with meals. Spices, chillies, and pickles, too much tea and coffee should also be avoided.Asthma, particularly when the attack is severe, tends to destroy the appetite. In such cases, do not force the patient to eat. He should be kept on fast till the attack is over. He should, however, take a cup of warm water every two hours. An enema taken at that time will be very beneficial. Honey is considered highly beneficial in the treatment of asthma. It is said that if a jug of honey is held under the nose of an asthma patient and he inhales the air that comes into contact with the honey, he starts breathing easier and deeper. The effect lasts for about an hour or so. This is because honey contains a mixture of 鈥榟igher鈥?alcohols and ethereal oils and the vapors given off by them are soothing and beneficial to the asthma patient. Honey usually brings relief whether the air flowing over it is inhaled or whether it is eaten or taken either in milk or water. It thins out accumulated mucous and helps its elimination from the respiratory passages. It also tones up the pulmonary parenchyma and thereby prevents the production of mucous in future. Some authorities recommend one year old honey for respiratory disease.Another effective remedy for asthma is garlic. The patient should be given daily garlic cloves boiled in 30 g of milk as a cure for early stage of asthma. Steaming ginger tea with minced garlic cloves in it can also help to keep the problem under control and should be taken both in the morning and evening. Turmeric is also regarded as an effective remedy for bronchial asthma. The patient should be given a teaspoonful of turmeric powder with a glass of milk two or three times daily. It acts best when taken on an empty stomach.During the attack, mustard oil mixed with little camphor should be massaged over the back of the chest. This will loosen up phelgm and ease breathing. The patient should also inhale steam from the boiling water with caraway seeds, known as ajwain in the vernacular. It will dilate the bronchial passage. The patient should also follow the other laws of nature. Air sun and water are great healing agents. Regular fasting once a week, an occasional enema, breathing exercises, fresh air, dry climate, light exercises, and a correct posture go a long way in treating the disease. The patient should perform yogic kriyas such as jalneti, vamandhouti and yogic asanas such as ekpaduttanasana, yogamudra, sarvangasana, padmasana, bhujangasana, dhanurasana, vakrasana, ardh-matsyendrasan, shalabhasan, paschimottanasana and shavasana. Pranayamas like kapalbhati, anuloma-viloma, ujjayi, surbyabhedana and bhramari are also highly beneficial. The patient should avoid dusty places, exposure to cold, foods to which he is sensitive, mental worries, and tensions. Asthmatic should be made to feel that they are not sick, and with slight adjustments, can live a full life.Hope this helps, Good Luck.

Anyone have any tips on dealing with g.e.r.d in infants. I feel at times im going to go crazy.?

my now 7 week old son was diagnosed with acid reflux at 3 weeks. We've changed his form. he gets zantac, sleeps upright...and still vomiting out mouth n nose, still crying during feedings, still fussy, STILL INPAIN. at times i get so frustrated all i can do is cry...we should be able to help these kids,.basically i want to kno does anyone have any suggestions so i dont go crazy at times i feel i can't do it any more... what helps??
Answer:
my son's breastfed but are you sure he doesn't have a whey protein issue? My son can't break the protein in cow's milk and that is even after it has been partially broken down by me-- if your son is formula fed he would be recieving even more of the protein. If I cheat and have a little bit of cheese or something I will bicycle his legs and sing "wheels on the bus" until he (pardon the term) farts and usually he will feel a little better. putting him tummy down (with head not touching so almost in a laying kneeling position) on a vibrating chair used to help too. good luck, it gets easier!
Make sure he is never flat, we even tilted our daughters bed at the top.Ask the doc about thickening the formula
I am a pediatric nurse. Sounds like you are doing all the right things. What I have noticed in my care is that not only do they need to eat upright, they also need to stay for a 1/2 hour afterward. This allows for the stomach to empty the formula into the intestine and this reduces the stomach contents. The problem is that although the zantac reduces the acid in the stomach, eating stimulates acid. So it is a kind of catch 22. Down where I work we use pepcid more which does the same thing but works in a different way. Talk to your doctor about dosing and see what he says about that. Not all reflux is the same. This may help. Also try feeding the baby more frequently and in smaller doses. This will also reduce the amount going in and should help. I hope I helped even a little. Good luck
This is up for constant debate. I can't say that my now 3 1/2 month old son has had that problem...he's just cranky at bedtime since he's so nosy. Anyway, I've heard people say to give them cereal. It is obviously a tad thicker (depending on how you mix it) than just formula. They say it helps them keep it down. However, I'm not sure how you (or anyone else) feels about giving a baby that small cereal. My son started on cereal at 11 weeks. He was just hungry all the time. He was a different baby the first night we tried it. I mix it thin enough to flow through a regular Gerber NUK bottle. My mom said my sister and I were both on cereal at 5 weeks, but I know most docs say no...I personally think it depends on the child. You just have to make sure they don't choke while eating. If you do decide to give it a shot, I'd play it cheap...Wal-Mart's Parent's Choice brand has plain ole rice. They say rice is the way to go as far as food allergies and stuff.Sorry to hear you're having such a hard time...I hope if my advice doesn't help, someone else will have something that does.Good luck!
We have heard it all with our son. We tried many different types of formula, many different methods of feeding, and many things to try to stop the pain. Ultimately we came down to the last straw. Which is to say the last formula to try.You see my son was diagnosed with reflux AND severe formula allergies. We would feed him a new formula and he would be OK for a day or a week or a month, and then he would just start vomiting clear across the room at every feeding. In the end we only had one thing left to try. Which was a specialty formula that the hospital had and could only be ordered through the mail. It was called Neocate and was supposedly amino acid based which was supposed to set better with his tummy.Well it worked. We had no problems after that. The formula came in packages of 6 or 8 I think through the mail and cost us somewhere in the neighborhood of $50 a can, but thankfully WIC was there to save our skins.Perhaps you can try that. I hope it goes well for him.Oh and thickening it up seemed to work rather well too. Although it was only really effective once he was on the Neocate. We usually just used plain rice cereal as the oatmeal made his stools too hard. You might try other flavors but I don't think they set well with my son's tummy. So, we mostly stuck with plain rice cereal.

Anyone have any suggestions for a painful ingrown hair?

Answer:
Hot compresses to bring it to a head.
If you can get to it...Pluck it
Plucking is the most obvious thing to do. Other than that, if you are susceptible to them, you should practice proper ingrown hair prevention.
If they're close enough to the surface,I just pluck 'em.I get them on my knees all the time cause I shave my legs.

Anyone have a child with crohns?

My daughter's father has it and I'm so afraid she does as well (she's 8). I asked her pedi when she was 5 about testing her and they said it was very invasive and we should wait. What do they do for testing and is there much they can do for it if she does? She seems to have stomach issues a lot but her father was in remission from it when we were together and is MIA so I don't know what it was like for him but I know it can be genetically passed on.
Answer:
hi pookie, I am a female %26 was diagnosed with Crohns at the age of 12. I've had it for 27 yrs. now. There is a blood test that can determine if your child has CD. It's through Prometheus but some insurance companies won't cover it so you would have to check. Another way would be via a sigmoidoscopy or colonoscopy. There are many newer treatments out now for Crohns for children such as Remicade (IV infusion).(check out CCFA's site for more info). Steroids tend to be a thing of the past due to the life long side effects such as bone loss. Surgery is ALWAYS a last option since it's not a cure for crohn's but it can used if the quality of life of the patient is to the point where they can't lead a normal life. That happened to me at age 17 but now, I am much better. If you go the Crohn's %26 Colitis Foundation of America's website, you can download information on CD regarding medications, latest treatments, medical terminology, women's issues, coping with IBD, how to tell the teachers at school, diet, exercise, and where to find a local chapter so you can meet other parents like yourself who has a child with IBD. They also have an 800 # that you can call M-F 9 am - 5 pm (EST) 888.MY.GUT.PAIN (888-694-8872). CCFA. It is run by professionals who are very familiar with IBD.Dragonpack is also a website for children and parents dealing with IBD. You may want to look into that as well.I know it's difficult living with an illness, but we've come along way from when I was dxed with it. CCFA's goal is to find a cure so they can go out of business one day.
Good luck to you and your daughter.

Anyone has ever been beg bug bitten?

how long did it take for the bite wound to heal? i been bed bug bitten and 1 week has past and the wound hasnt healed. its still very itchy. mother freakers chowed down on me real badly. i would prefer mosquito bites than bed bug cause they heal faster. strange thing, my beg bug wounds when i flush hot water on it, there is an interesting feeling. its little itchy but feels quite good. i dont know what it is but it can feel that way without the bites, i might like it.
Answer:
I myself have been bitten on my stomach last week. I'm not sure what bit me but it's a lot better. Yeah, it itches but it's going away. It shouldn't take that long to heal. I've had many different bug bites. Living in Minnesota I get mosquito bites a lot, spider bites, horseflies and other insects. They are a b**** because they itch constantly. Rub some cream on it to stop the itching. I use 1% hydrocortisone cream. It shouldn't get infected or anything like that so you'll live! :P

Anyone had this?

started off with vomiting then just sleeping all day, then i was feverish all night and the next day with the WORST headache and lots of muscle pain. then yesterday i saw the doctor and he said it was a virus. today my throat is excrutiatingly sore and my neck hurts almost worse. anyone been here? how long will it last? theres no medication...
Answer:
yup i've been there. my doctor said it was a virus, too. i just had to wait it out. it lasted about 5 days for me.
about a week...
just remember to drink lots of clear fluids...and dont eat anything spicy or anything too greasy.
It could be mono. You might want to call your doctor and let him know you are worse, not better and he may decide to do a mono test on you.Hope you feel better soon.
no i never i can't really help there but my advice would be to get a seconds doctors opinion
Yup. I felt like that when I had Mono. The sore throat and neck is from vomiting. Fluids, lots of fluids!
Sounds like a flu. My daughter just went through this on July 4, started while were at the fairgrounds to watch the fire works. No medication. Need to keep yourself hydrated, sports drinks are good, keep electrolytes in the body, and they help retain water. Become dehydrated will cause weakness and the day after headache. Today and yesterday, she had already quit vomiting, but her muscles are really sore from it, including the neck.hope you feel better,
Fox

Anyone had swollen lumps under collar bone?

swollen lumps under collarbone and near armpits normal undersound about 6 months ago. and normal u/s 2 weeks ago. any had swollen lumps under collar bone
Answer:
Yes when I had measles. Lymph nodes get swollen when you have an infection. Also, a sign of Hodgkin's which is much rarer. If you feel bad, get to a Dr. If not, wait--may go away,
I would say that is swollen lymph glands. Do some research about lymph glands.
usually means your body is fighting an infection.http://www.healthsquare.com/mc/fgmc2316.

Anyone had apendicitis before?

hey all anyone here had their apendic before?what were ur symtoms like?Because i'm been haveing pain around that area for a week and i really hate going to the hospital.
*my symtoms are just i will get a slight pain i dont have fever or aanything else.so pls tell me this is nothing?
Answer:
Appendicitis Symptoms
Appendicitis typically begins with a vague pain in the middle of the abdomen. The pain slowly moves to the right lower abdomen over 24 hours. In the classic description, abdominal pain is accompanied with nausea, vomiting, lack of appetite, and fever. These symptoms, however, occur in fewer than half of people who develop appendicitis. Any combination of these symptoms may or may not occur. More commonly, people with appendicitis do not have typical symptoms. The symptoms of appendicitis may take 4-48 hours to develop. During this time, someone developing this condition may have varying degrees of loss of appetite, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Some with developing appendicitis may have constipation, diarrhea, or no change in bowel habits.
Early symptoms are often hard to separate from other conditions including gastroenteritis (an inflammation of the stomach and intestines). Many people admitted to the hospital for suspected appendicitis leave the hospital with a diagnosis of gastroenteritis. On the other hand, true appendicitis is often diagnosed as gastroenteritis at first.
Children and the elderly often have fewer symptoms, which makes their diagnosis less obvious. When i had appendictis i wasnt actually sick just had terrible nausea, i had pain in the middle of my stonach that went to the lower right side and it was awful!!
If you think it is appendictis go to the hosp/docs asap the longer you leave it the worse it can get it can rupture and casue septicimia - not nice !!
I had an apendemictamy. the main sympton is belly pain. You may feel pain near your belly button and slowly move toward your lower right side of your belly. If you cough, chances are that you feel sore there. You may also experience fever or nausea and a loss of appetite. I suggest you see a doctor ASAP. Your appendix may burst and can become toxic to your blood stream.
my pain started on my left side and moved to my right side and vomited alot and was real painful at the touch. but my daugthers was alot quicker she had little discomfort so ii took her to the doctor thinking it was that time of the month pain and they rushed her into surgery so go see the doctor
i had a friend have his appendix burst. he said he was in heaps of pain curled up in the corner and it lasted for days. the doctors didn't know what it was until they opened him up in surgery to find he's appendix had burst. they said he wasn't in as much pain as u would normally be if u had appendicitis. basically unless ur curled up in the corner in pain i wouldn't worry about appendicitis. but i would definitely go to the doctor after all I'm no doctor and u could have something. hope ur all right and do go.
Pain is the main symptom. I started to feel pain while I was at school. I ate a bowl of noodles, and complained to my mom that my stomach was hurting. She's a mean weirdo so she didn't really care, but throughout the course of the night it just got so severe... I went into the living room and laid on the couch (the couch always seems so cool at night). My mom usually minimizes it when I say I'm in pain, but somehow she knew just by looking at me that we had to leave for the hospital right away...Now, it didn't end up being an appendicitis, but they took it out anyway. That's initially what the doc thought it was. Pain is the main symptom.
Yes I had mine taken out and so has my son %26 daughter. You will have pain in lower right side. This pain will get bad enough where you will be curled up..Get to Em room .If they burst it can kill you with the infection. You will vomit and may be green color..You will feel very bad with fever..Get Docter before gets that bad..
i did. It hurt really bad when I walked especially on the right side. Press your hand into your lower right abdomen-when you release the hand do you get pain? This can be a sign of apendicitis. My husband had apendicitis and went to work for about three days. One morning he decide he better not go to work because he couldn't pull up his pants without pain. I had been telling him to go to the ER, but he wouldn't. When they finally operated his belly was full of infection and the doc said it had ruptured days ago.
hey i went to the Dr's with the same problem and was told i had the flu a few days later i was rushed to the hospital and went in to surgery where my appendicitis busted in the Dr's hands don't weight to long to get checked out you can get poisoned if they pop in you so please have it checked out by you doctor asap.

Anyone had a brain haemorrhage and survived?

my wife had an aneurysm the year before last and still suffers from headaches.
Answer:
I had a sub arachnoid haemorrhage in 2001. Took me a few years to recover and the treatment took a while but I am now back to normal. Mine occurred from an AVM not an aneurysm, not that it matters. Tell her there are others out there, good luck. I do have to take tablets everyday, but I think that has become psychological now mate
yes....
I fyou have one you should've gone to the hospital straight away to drain the blood and if you didn't you could've died
A friend of ours had an aneurysm several years ago(liek 4 or 5) and he still has headaches. He also has to be careful not to bump his head becuase doctors told him that if he hit it it could cause him to another on and that it would most likely be fatal.
yes i had one 27years ago, get terrible headaches but not that often - but when they happen, boy do they happen
yes,its true.
i havent but an ex of mine did
as your wife he still gets bad headaches it also did a few other things...it affected his speech and made him well ermmm i wouldnt like to say stupid but his brain acted slower bless him.
all this over doing an every day thing of just picking his trousers up...it was that simple...
Stroke is a brain hemorrhage so yes tons of people have had one and survived including my dad.
of course.. otherwise your wife would not still be alive. many many people survive it with little or no after effects
a dear freind of mine had a pituitry (spelt wrong)tumour and he survived.
I had a subdural hematoma, bleed in the area between the brain and sheath holding fluid your brain floats around in.Surgery released the pressure but damage had already been caused to my right frontal lobe, left side numbness and trouble remembering things.
My mum did about eight years ago. We were so worried at the time and because of the severity we were told that she wouldn't last the week. She was in a deep coma and astonished everyone by waking up the next morning and asking for the toilet. She was in hospital for months and went through many stages including losing her speech for a while. When she recovered, she had headaches for a couple of years and had a certain amount of memory loss. I was so embarassed intially when talking to her doctor, I referred to it as a subarachnoid haemorroid!
my best friends mom had an aneurysm and lived through it and continues to have headaches because the swelling in her brain hadn't quite gone down. don't be too alarmed but still make sure she goes in regularly. just in case. since the brain suffered such a major trauma before she is more likely to have it happen again. just be sure to monitor the headaches.I'd advise keeping a journal record of the occurrences of such headaches and severity. take this to the doctor. and also try to have your wife pinpoint where the head ache is coming from what type of headache it is (or feels like such as allergies, temples, behind eyes, back of head, migraine) take this to the doctor and he may be able to help her out with all of it. and having that record will help it move more efficiently.hope i was of help.
Yes survival is very likely. I agree with aspirin therapy to keep the blood thinned as it is circulated. Try to help her keep as strees free as possible. Miagraines usually precede and come aftr brain hemmorages. Keep her current with all Dr. appointments. She will need them for life.
Mine was not an aneurysm, but of unknown cause about 8 months after a clot stroke and overlapping the original damage. I'm living still after 4 years, but it does still cause many of my problems. I am also on high doses of coumadin, but take no other blood thinners on top of this one. I have hyper-coagulation, and I worry more about another clot than a bleed. Good luck to you both.
Brother-in-law had one. He used to take the medication doctors gave him and then he quit because they didn't help. They said he has more anuerisms that have not bursted-yet. Could your wife be the same? Brother is spost to take medication for high blood pressure and for seizures (those occured sometimes when he drank beer). The headache thing would scare me though. Should she be checked again for more blockages?

Anyone got Fatty liver syndrome who can advise on diet/ supplements ?

Hi, I've a friend who has just been diagnosed, anyone had this ? what investigations did you have please and how do you deal with it, diet supplements ? Cheers,
ps, abusive answers will win a prize... the report abuse button %26lt;ggg%26gt; ;) thanks :)
Answer:
following a diet for those with diabetes type 2 is the best for fatty liver (nash). have your friend stay away from iron. iron is found in some supplements as well as vitamins and other herbal remedies, meats, egg and some leafy greens as well.
avoid alcohol, lower sodium intake and cut out all sugars and artificial sugars. drink water, tea and coffee-limit caffiene intake if she has a tendency for panic attacks or anxiety issues. a cup of juice is okay as well as fruits and veggies-infact fruit and veggies are easier to digest than any type of meat.limit the use of over the counter meds. have her alert all doctors to her issue so they can, if need be write a prescription that will be less burden for the liver. milk thistle may help. it has anti-inflammatory properties, but as always, with liver disease, ask the doctor first.last but not least, mild exersize three times a week.
Tell her to watch her carbs. Her doctor should of given her a list of foods she should avoid.
See 'Let's Get Well' by Adelle Davis. It has an excellent chapter on the Liver and its diseases.
Fatty infiltration of the liver can be caused by many things. The largest of which is poor diet, alcoholism, high cholesterol and effects from medication. Treatment of the disease means treatment of what caused it for that patient. I see a lot of this with my patients. The good news is that the liver is very resilient. Once the cause of the disease is found in your friend, treatment should be successful. Good luck! =)

Anyone got any advise on getting horrible cold sores off my lip??

i have two cold sores on my lip and they have been there for about a year now, there not that noticeable anymore, its just that the skin above them is a slightly paler shade compared to the rest of my lip!
i have tried all the creams i could get my hands on but non of them worked!, when i used zovirax it got rid of them in about 2.5 seconds but then they came back in about 2.5 seconds!
anybody got any tips?cheers!
Answer:
Some commonly used non-prescription products for cold sores include Abreva (docosanol) cream, Blistex , Carmex, and Lipactin gel that contains the active ingredients of zinc and heparin.Skin protectants can also be an effective cold sore cure or cold sore remedy. These skin protectants and lip moisturizers usually contain some or all of the following ingredients: allantoin, dimethicone, cocoa butter, white petrolatum, or glycerine. These ingredients act to keep the lips from drying out and to protect the cold sores from irritation, which would aggravate the outbreak and slow the healing process. They also form a barrier that helps prevent a secondary infection of the cold sores. For pain and discomfort, topical products that may contain benzocaine, lidocaine, benzyl alcohol, camphor, or menthol and phenol will bring some relief. Oral pain medication such as ibuprofen can be given when the cold sores are causing significant discomfort. All natural cold sore cures include the application of the following to the cold sore: aloe vera juice or gel, the herb Chaparral, DMSO, grapefruit seed extract, lemon balm extract, mint extract, or tea.
If they are constantly there you may have herpes, go see your doctor to rule it out.
Dab some toothepaste onto it :)
I use alcohol
yes get your doc to send you to a max unit in your hospital

Answer:
Dab them with tea tree oil a few times a day. It will dry them up and make them dis-appear.
Try compeed patches, there are very good or liquorice balm is also supposed to be good
Go to the body shop and ask for the Tea tree oil in a little tube. Works great for things like that.
They usually come from a digestive disorder and a good laxative will help, however I've never heard of one lasting that long. Maybe you should see a doctor.
if your having trouble getting rid of it, go to a doctor, as it may need antibiotics... if you have tried all the creams, then i would deffinatley seek medical advice. xxx

Anyone experienced these symptoms?Fainting,dizzyness...?

know someone who is experiencing the following symptons: fainting, dizzyness, blurred vision. He fainted 3 times for the last 10 days. He can't sleep well. He said when he fainted the first time, he felt everything shrink. He couldn't see welll after the first time he fainted. It's not because he's got myopia cuz he doesnt! He's constantly dizzy. He was diagonosed with high blood pressure several years ago.
Answer:
Stop messing around and get him to a doctor. He needs tests run to find out what is going on. Dont wait until he gets critical before you do something about it.
better get him to the doc, it could be anything. giving suggestions would just scare you when only a doc can tell you whats really wrong. go to a doc or emergency room asap
usually when a person faints it is because their blood pressure drops or they have low blood-sugar or they're dehydrated. I'm guessing he's not anemic because that usually affects women more than men. If he's fainted 3 times in 10 days, he should definitly see a doctor. After he faints, if you are around, give him some water and something light to eat to raise his blood sugar back up.
Fainting, dizziness, and blurred vision are serious symptoms that need to be addressed right away by a physician. It sounds like your friend's blood pressure is not adequately controlled. It's either too high or too low - not sure without more info. Whatever the issue, your friend should see his doctor before he has a stroke.Any seizures?

Anyone ever heard of "Stan's rodeo ointment"?

A family member has eczema and someone told me this is really good for it.
Answer:
IT’S THE BALM
Back in his days as a rodeo cowboy, Stan Johnston, the Los Angeles Dodgers’ head athletic trainer, mixed some items in his medicine chest and came up with a balm that helped heal the burns and blisters on his hands from riding bulls and roping steers. He kept the recipe, and now Stan’s Rodeo Ointment mends professional athletes. Dodgers pitcher Derek Lowe, whose blisters would cause him to throw blood-stained baseballs when he was with the Boston Red Sox, says the black, tarry goo solved his chronic problem. “It saved me from just having to make it through a game,” Lowe, 33, said. “Now talent can dictate a game again, not how long you can hold on and endure the pain.”Johnston began using the substance on baseball players when he joined the Dodgers as a trainer in the team’s minor-league system in 1985. As players moved to other organizations, word spread. The Florida Marlins ordered the ointment to help pitcher Josh Beckett combat nagging blisters. Beckett, who was traded to the Red Sox before this season, has been on the disabled list nine times in his six-year career, mostly because of blisters. Beckett said he kept one tube with Red Sox trainers and another at home or the team’s hotel.Johnston, who was a National League trainer at Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game on Tuesday, has applied for a patent on his potion — a combination of Polymyxin B Sulfate, Bacitracin Zinc and Povidone Iodine. He says he is aiming to convince a pharmaceutical company to sell it as an over-the-counter medication. For now, he has it made by SportPharm, a pharmacy based in Torrance, Calif., that supplies sports teams. It costs $35 for a one-ounce tube.I don't know if it would or wouldn't be good for Eczema; but it wouldn't hurt to try. I couldn't find a link to purchase, sorry.
nope never heard of it..what about bathing in oatmeal?

Anyone ever have this throat problem before?

I don't have a sore throat or anything but I do have allergies from time to time and I don't know if this is any relation to the problem I'm having. Anyway.when I swallow I have this bitter, bad, taste in my throat. It's just bad, real musty. And it feels like something is still in my throat. Kinda like saliva didn't go all the way down. My throat doesn't hurt and sometimes I do have sinus problems. Has anyone ever had this problem?? I remember one time too, I was getting those little tonsil stone things that can come up too when you cough. that hasn't happened though since probably Dec last year or January. Any opinions? Anyone have this happen before? I'm gonna make an appt with my doc soon too.
Answer:
Yes and I'm afraid you just have to either force it out in a cough or wait for it to pass.
Never had that problem, personally. Maybe it's not a throat problem at all.could be acid reflux. The acid backs up into the throat and can cause a bad taste. Not sure of your age or if you've ever had problems with heartburn, reflux or indigestion, but, just something to think about and maybe mention to your doc. Good luck and hope the problem gets resolved :-)
do hot water garggle 2-3 times aday if possible add a few menthol leaves.tie a thin cloth around the neck to protect from cold.wil give you great relief.

Anyone ever have symptoms of hypothyroidism...?

only to do a blood test that shows you don't? What do you do? My numbers were off before but I declined treatment. Have been having a whole host of ailments that all point to hypothyroidism. Add to my symptoms DEPRESSION now because they say my blood test is fine! Should I insist on another one? Go in and beg them to figure out what IS wrong? Help!
Answer:
Yep. I had medically induced hypothyroidism. And the doctor who gave it to me wouldn't treat it because the lab test said I was fine. 4 months later, my next test finally showed to his satisfaction I was hypothyroid, and he finally did something about it. 4 months of hell.
Umm Hyperthyroidism is just an overactive metabolism. I should knw. I have it. The only symptom is that you eat alot but you lose weight and you cant really gain weight.
Yes, I'm going thru the very same thing at the moment. I've searched for a doc who treats Hypothroidism based on symptoms instead of blood test results. I've been on Amour Thyroid for approx. two months now and I already notice a difference. I looked for possible docs by visiting the Amour Thyroid website.

Anyone ever have scarlet fever as an adult?

If so, what were your symptoms? Fever of 101 or greater? Was the cause - a strep throat gone wrong, or other soft tissue infection? Did you have itchy patches all over? Please give me some info about YOUR experience? Thanks :)
Answer:
My 36 y/o husband recently had scarlet fever. We recognized it because my son had it twice when he was 6. We believe my husband had strep throat. My son came down with a diagnosed case of strep, and several days later my husbnad began suffering from symptoms. Just the sore throat though, no high fever. But since he is prone to strep, he went to the doctor and had the throat culture done. But before he could receive the results, the lab lost them. Well he didn't go back to the doctor right away (read: weeks), but took a few leftover antibiotics from before. Soon we began to notice a spreading rash. Exactly like the one my son had a couple of years ago when he was diagnosed with scarlet fever. THe rash spread over my husband's chest, hands, feet, and itched unbearably. After awhile it begins to peel, and looks pretty gross. In addition, you must be patient with the peeling, don't try to remove the dead skin before it is ready, or it will be more painful.

Anyone ever have plantars warts removed?

My 12 year old daughter has 3 plantar warts. I took her to her physician and she said they were unable to freeze them because it would leave scar tissue that would bother her forever so they referred us to a podiatrist. Her appointment is this next week, but I am just wondering what we have to look forward to. Her physician said possibly cutting them out or electrocuting them or something. I wonder if this will just be a consultation or since they know what they are do they just do the treatment right on the spot? And what about the pain. My daughter is only 12. Can she handle it?
Answer:
Yes I have. Tried freezing didn't work. Tried lazer didn't work. Tried acid didn't work. I finally went to the podiatrist and he gave me this thick paste. You put it on being careful just to put it on the wart. I had to wear it for a week without getting it wet and to my surprise when he removed the bandage the wart just popped out - was stuck on the bandage. I had a hole in my skin there I had to protect for about 3 months - till the normal skin grew back. During this I had no pain at all and never got it back.
Anything is worth a try - plantars are so painful and your daughter will be so happy when there gone.
I had them on my foot, wear duct tape on it, just the warts not the whole area or limb.it will go away in about a week or so.
I had these when I was a kid. The podiatrist gave me a mild acid that I painted on the warts like nail polish. It had a dull burn and I had to keep doing it every day for weeks but thats was 25 years ago and I lived and I have no scars If I remember right the prescription was called duo film.Good Luck
take her to the podiatrist .the paste works. i had one years ago and treated it myself as i could not afford to go to the dr. it was as big as a pencil eraser on the bottom arch of my foot and very painfull to walk on , so one night watching tv i took a small pair of needel nose plyers and a few shots of brandy .grabbed it and twisted it while pulling at it ,i ripped it out by the root ,left a hole that healled up in a few weeks .it was worth the 20 seconds of pain.

Anyone ever had this happen?

I've been having really bad allergies for the past week, and I've been sucking on cough drops constantly. I even sleep with one in my mouth. Now I have white spot on one half of the back of my throat and my tongue's taste buds are really bright red. Is this from the cough drops? My throat doesn't hurt at all.
Answer:
There is a good chance that it is from the cough drops. If you don't have any other symptoms of illness it's not likely that you have an infection. But since you say you have been having bad allergy symptoms, it's possible that you actually have something else going on.
white patches sounds like an infection to me should go get it checked out it might be strep or something...have you tried benahydryl if it is allegies that helps me...i have really bad allergies and it works great for them...also check out webmd that might help answer your question
i had the same thing and it lasted for 10 weeks...it was chronic tonsellitis and i ended up having them removed.

Anyone ever had an underactive thyroid?

I take litium and have haven't been feeling quite normal (who is to define normal, though). I've been researching some and think I might have an underactive thyroid possibly caused by the lithium I take. Weight gain (feeling so bloated), tiredness, moodyness, depression, tight tender skin on thighs and legs... What were some of your symptoms?
Answer:
I have an underactive thyroid, but I don't know what caused it. Symptoms of hypothyroidism include; weight gain, IBS with constipation, cold feet %26/or hands, low body temp, dry thinning hair, dry skin, fatigue, muscle and joint aches, depression, headaches, sensitivity to light, slow heart rate, low blood pressure, ridged fingernails with no moons, and fertility issues.Testing is by blood work. It must be done first thing in the morning or it could stop a diagnosis. Basically a TSH over 2.0 shos that the thyroid gland is slowing down. If possible get a TSH, free t4, free t3, and antibody test.
Before I found out that I had a hyperactive thyroid, I would always have heart palpatations. My doctor said this was also common in hypoactive thyroid patients.
It has been well documented that LITHIUM is CAUSING thyroid problems. If I heard that - I would not take it! Now, the best way to know where your thyroid stands is to go to your doctor and ask for a comprehensive THYROID panel testing. So, ask for: T4, T3, FreeT3, FreeT4, Thyroid Antibody - TPO which stands for Thyroid Peroxidase, and TSH. A TSH range shows "nornal" up to 5.5 but do your research and you will find that anything above 2 is not normal! So, after the blood test - evaluate your results. If you have a thyroid problem (underactive as it sounds like) you need medication probably for life as your thyroid is not functioning well. I would stop Lithium, but it is up to you. If you continue to take it your thyroid will deteriorate and you will need extra amount of horomone. If you stop Lithium, your thyroid may rebounce if it still can! I wish you lots of good luck and good health!

Anyone ever diminished Dark Circles Under & Around Eyes?

has anyone got rid or succificently diminshed the appearance of rings under or around eyes or have GOOD tips? thankyou...
Answer:
purple concealer from professional make-up shop. you will have to put foundation on top.

Sounds weird i kno.but seriously give haemorhoid cream a try - its meant to work wonders apparently!!
Dark Circles Under the EyesMyths:Nothing can be done to improve dark circles under the eyes. Facts:Dark circles can in some cases be eliminated. Overview:Dark circles under the eyes have always been considered a sign of late nights and lack of sleep. The cause of these dark circles is often blamed on stress, too much sun, too little sleep, menstrual disorders, kidney dysfunction and even too many fried, frozen and canned foods, although it is often a hereditary trait. Circles under the eyes can worsen in people who smoke or suffer from allergies. In western medicine, the kidneys are connected to the adrenal glands and with stress levels in life being so high, these glands are very often exhausted. When these glands are weakened, allergies are prevalent. Dark circles under the eyes are known to be a classic symptom of an allergy, together with a host of other signs including edema and fatigue. It may help to meet with a nutritionist/allergist to rule out foods and allergens that may be contributing to this condition.According to Chinese Medicine, dark circles under the eyes relate to our kidneys, which are seen as the foundation of our vitality. Sufficient sleep is one of the simplest remedies recommended. Symptoms:Dark circles under the eyes. Causes:Causes include:
Hereditary
Allergies
Stress
Lack of sleep
Adrenal exhaustion
Kidney energetic deficiency (Chinese Medicine)
Poor diet
I find that yellow concealer works well, its meant to hide dark skin imperfections.
Along with lots of water I find minimizes them.
I was able to diminish dark circles to the point of no longer needing concealer, by using the following isotonics: antioxidants, multi-vitamin, calcium and vitamin C. Great nutrition is often difficult in our hectic lives, so supplements can really help when we need it.
There are many causes of dark circles, from age, heredity, allergies, cold or sinus infection, bone structure and glasses which are not so commonly known.

If you would like to apply home remedies to reduce dark circles, here are some of my suggestions:
Buy a box of regular, old fashioned unflavored gelatin (e.g. Knox) from grocery store. Take a small cup or bowl and put in 1 teaspoon of the gelatin mix. Add one tablespoon of boiling water %26 stir for a minute. Test it on your wrist to make sure it is not too hot. Then, using a cotton ball, pat it under your eyes as you would an eye cream or gel. Go lie down and listen to some music, or take a bath %26 let it stay on for at least 30 minutes. Then just rinse it off.Gelatin is very high in Vitamin K %26 Biotin. It will not remove your dark circles on the first application (but you will notice a difference), but if you do it daily for a week, and then 2-3 times a week for maintenance, you should notice a drastic reduction in dark circles.http://www.mydarkcirclesblog.com/2007/01... To hide dark circles, you can use YSL concealer or salmon concealer..

My wife and her sisters heard about a product from a friend that worked for them. She told me "I don't want the Italian dark eye circles anymore, now I don't". I noticed her eyes were much lighter in a couple months. She gets her eye cream from this website.

Anyone else?

my sister, our neighbor, and me all have these strechmark/growing line things on our thighs and they look rather ugly
is there anything that can cure this? will they go away?
it's very annoying and
it's embarrassing to wear a bathing suit too :/
also are they common and does anyone else have them?
Answer:
Stretch marks are very common especially in fair skinned people. In fact its more rare for women to not have them. Most women get them during pregnancy . Instead of being embarrassed we should look at them as something natural. I see mine as a badge that signals that I have had two wonderful children. We all need to get over the idea that unless your body is perfect its something to be ashamed of.
there are good creams for that, like the one i have, called palmer's cocoa butter.

Anyone else w excessive armpit sweat?

I have quite a bit of extra armpit sweat. It doesn't smell or nething I shower daily obv! It just is a pain caz I can never wear light colored shirts=-( I tried the new dove clinical and it worked for like 2 weeks but now it doesn't any more. I've also tried men's and women's mitchem that doesn't work either. I've had this for so many years I'm just used to buying things that won't show it...but it still bothers me. Anyone had surgery to remove the sweat glands? If so how much did it cost, was it painful, and most important did it work?? Anyone who has ne suggestions i'd b much appreciated. Thanks so much
Answer:
Get Mitchem gel. That works great. If it is a horrible problem, doctors do recommend removing the sweat glands. As you get a little older, you may find that it lessens so don't go under the knife just yet.
Hi, i had the exact same problem all my life. I would wear sweaters extra shirts and other stuff to cover up the wet spots under my arms. It was very embarassing. It never smelled bad unless I didnt change my clothes often during the day. It was so embarassing I wouldnt even enjoy summer and I wasnt able to wear little tank tops or any bright color shirts. It was sad! One day I found a product at HEB/walmart its called Certain-Dri it costs around 6 dollars. It is the only product that has worked for me. When I used it I was amazed with the results. Now I dont sweat anymore and I dont even have to use deodorant (but i still do) it gave me so much confidence! try it..it also has a website.
Hyperhydrosis (excessive sweating) is a medical condition that can be treated with Botox injections. Botox works by paralysing the sweat glands, the same way it plumps up wrinkles by paralyzing the surrounding muscles. Botox is not permanent, but can give you relief for a month or two at a time. Talk to your doctor about whether Botox might be an option for you. (Funny - I sound like an advertisment!)
I don't suggest the surgery. Two of my friends got it, we're professional dancers, and now they sweat from everywhere else!! Their arms don't sweat but their face, back, and behind the knees sweat. It's much worse. They say it didn't hurt. They inject botox under your arms. It depends upon where you go. It was $200 per arm for three treatments. You can look for a roll on antipersperant that is medical. You can find it in CVS or Genovese. You apply at night only and you still apply your regular deodorant in the morning. Good luck!
Use Perspirex. It helps a lot. It's just a small bottle. 25ml only. U only need to apply it 2 or 3 times a week at night. And u don't have to use any other deodorant anymore. I started using it 3 times a week. but now I only use it once a week. It really drastically reduce your armpit sweat.
To save money and pain,
Try Certain Dri, and Certain Dri A.M.
It works really well, I've used it a lot and it helps stop excessive sweating!
You use it at night time, and take a shower like usual in the morning. Then you apply the Certain Dri A.M., or you could go without buying that and
continue using regular deodorant, although it may not work as well as Certain Dri A.M.
Go to this website to check out Certain Dri,
it also has tips and talks about excessive sweating!:
http://www.numarklabs.com/index.php?src=...
You could also go to the doctor, and
they will prescribe you with deodorant,
that will also work really well!Hope I helped :]
Barbie, I ruined so many shirts, dresses, etc. that I had given up hope. Then I found a product called Certain Dri. It has been a total lifesaver! Not only do I sweat a lot, but mine stinks to high heaven. Not attractive, even less so when it's a woman! This stuff really worked! I've been using it for 3 years now and will never stop; it has literally changed my life. My confidence has soared and I can wear ANYTHING I WANT! It's available in all grocery stores and the average cost is under $5.00. Please, please go get this and follow the instructions exactly.put it on at night. The only drawback is you may have some itching at first but you can avoid that by not washing your pits first (definitely dry them though) and do NOT SHAVE before using. I guarantee you, this will work for you. Research it by Googling if you want. Please let me know how this worked for you. Put "Certain Dri" in the subject line so I know it is you, ok? Good Luck, hon!

Anyone else have lymph nodes growing all around their body?

They dont know what is going on they suspected early stage lymphoma but biopsies were inconclusive but things are only growing slowly anyone else been there and have any idea what is going on??
Answer:
I'm sorry that you are going through such a stressful time. Ask your doctor to check for Castleman Disease. It is a rare disorder ( non-cancerous growths that develop in lymph nodes throughout the body). My grandson has this disease, he is doing very well now. I hope this will help. Good luck!
My mom had this same thing happen, and yes, it was lymphoma. I would probably get a second opinion if I were you.
My sister had a golf ball sized lump on her neck and they thought it was lymphoma...they biopsied it and checked inside her stomach (it grows there too)...I prayed really hard, because I went through breast cancer, surgery and chemo...and I didn't want to see my little sis go thru that ...it would be harder to watch a loved one go thru it than for me going thru it...anyways the tests came back negative for lymphoma and the doctors were scratching their heads...in a couple of weeks it slowly went away...so yes, pray and get a second opinion if you are worried...I told my sis she played too much golf and grew a golf ball and to give up bowling "for God's sake" before she grew a bowling ball...LOL...she just ignored me...
Lymph nodes are present all over the body. They are in your neck, your thorax, groin, cheeks, legs. Its when they get big and swell up they start becoming suspicious about lymphoma
You need to seek a 2nd opinoin in a tertiary facility. Where I live we send our pts to Barnes Hospital of University of Chicago. If you are close to Houston, you can go to MAnderson Hospital. These are 3 of the best cancer centers I know of in the US.
Dont waste time messing with a small town hospital who dink around and dont know what they are doing. Time is on your side if things are growing slowly. .
Cancer RN
I had swollen lymph nodes in my neck, and because my dad had lymphoma, they did a biopsy on me...and it was nothing. My dad has been cancer free for almost 10 years, and I'm fine. I still have swollen lymph nodes though! Good luck to you, and try not to worry.

Anyone else have a heart beat that skips? What do they do to help it?

Answer:
With all due respect, most 'skipped beats' aren't skipped at all. It's a double beat to make up for a weak one. Google PACs (pre atrial contractions) and that's most likely what you're experiencing. You're probably not having PVCs (pre ventricle contractions) as those are more rare and a bit more dangerous. Only one way to know for sure: Get a Holter monitor or Event monitor from your doctor. Most EKGs won't catch these (as the EKG machine records about a minute's worth of beats) but using a Holter monitor (which you wear) you can sometimes catch and record them for diganosis.
I worried myself sick over PACs for years not knowing what they were. My cardiologist says they're normal and almost all healthy people experience them at times. Again, to be sure, see your doc and find out. If you have no symptoms (lightheadedness or dizzyness or pain) chances are you'll be good to go.
But only a doc can diganose the different types of arrythmias you may have and only after a diganosis will your mind be put at ease. Anxiety can make them worse...indeed see your doc to be sure.
It is called palpatations...I would go to your doctor. Lots of people have this...Some control with medication. But visit your doc to be sure it is nothing else
This could be a sign that you are not getting enough potassium. This is found in fruits, particularly bananas.Start eating lots of fruit but if the problem persists you need to see a cardiologist.
smoking
gaining wait
not doing any exercise and many other factors can cause that.have a check.
Premature ventricular contractions. Usually no treatment. Not serious.
sometimes palpitations can be caused by caffeine (or energy drinks) - or by stress - if it's worrysome to you, ask your doctor - they may do a holter test (a 24 hour EKG - its like carrying a Walkman for 24 hours) to get a visual of what you're feeling.
