Anyone heard of INTERSTITIAL CYSTITIS?

I have been going to the dorctor since last year form urinary prombles . I have had ploymps removed and still with pain. Doc said that I might have this.. Anyone else?
Answer:
Interstitial cystitis (IC) is a condition that results in recurring discomfort or pain in the bladder and the surrounding pelvic region. The symptoms vary from case to case and even in the same individual. People may experience mild discomfort, pressure, tenderness, or intense pain in the bladder and pelvic area. Symptoms may include an urgent need to urinate (urgency), a frequent need to urinate (frequency), or a combination of these symptoms. Pain may change in intensity as the bladder fills with urine or as it empties. Women's symptoms often get worse during menstruation. They may sometimes experience pain with vaginal intercourse
Yes, my mother has a pretty nasty case of it, and unfortunately, there's nothing in the way of a cure. It's believed to be an auto-immune disease, in the same way diabetes is - the body is attacking itself, and nobody really knows why. If you can, avoid acidic foods like tomatoes, and drink plenty of water. If you have not already consulted a urologist, I urge you to do so.Good luck!
I am not clear why you didn't get more informed before leaving your physicians office. However, this is a condition caused by inflammation of the tissues of the bladder wall. This condition is often misdiagnosed as a urinary tract infection. The symptoms you experience are that of frequent urination, pelvic pain, and even pain during intercourse. Elmiron is the only medication taken by mouth that is specifically approved for the treatment of IC. This medicine coats the bladder like Pepto-Bismol coats the stomach. Hope this helps.
Bladder cell inflamation. My mom is a nurse (RN) I might have not gotten all my facts straight, but go to this wed site--www.evenbetternow/inters...
If your urologist has made this diagnosis over a year ago and has not given you a definite plan then I would be looking for a new one. This disease is a serious, difficult to manage situation. Find the best Urologist in your area and do all in your power to make an appointment. My brother in law will have his Bladder removed in two weeks due to what he feels is improper treatment of this condition over the past 14 months. I would not give you advice except to see the best and pursue the rigorous treatment to keep it under control.
Good evening
In order to find out you have ic, you have to go through the process of elminating other chronic illinesses that have the same symptoms. I have ic and I am in remission. There is no cure at this time, but there is remission. One of symptoms is the foods we eat irritate the bladder. Acidic fruits, Feels like a bladder infection with no infection. Takes time to get diagnosed for the most part, don't know your symptoms so not sure if you have them. You are welcome to join my online ic support. We have over 1200 members who offer support and updated information when possible. Good luck and don't give up, you will find what is wrong.
