Any superstitious remedies for colds in your family?

Last night, I stupidly statyed outside in 1 degree C weather, and have a bad cold now that stops me pretty much from even breathing. Since I'm a guy, and I hate seeing the doctor, do any of you have any home remedies I can try before caving in and need to see my G.P?Any help is appreciated, thank you.
Answer:
I am Scottish and what our tradition is, a "hot toddie"
1 Measure of Whisky in a cup
Top up with hot water
Add sugar to taste, and drink...
hope this helps lol
Lots of people in my (Asian) family seem to think that when you rub one's back with a large spoon and Chinese oil, you will feel better. (because red appears after you rub it and that's supposed to be the 'bad'/cold that goes away, I personally think its your body's reaction to pain =p)by the way: its hurts a lottt.
i reckon a nice hot bath rug up and have a couple of headache pills and rub vicks vapour rub on your chest and if you can stand it abit on the outer rim of your nostrils and then you should be right if not go get some cold and flu tablets from the chemist.
