Anyone know much about laser resurfacing for scars?

I recently had correctional surgery for a scar I've had since I was young. About 2 1/2 months ago, the surgon cut it back open (it was indented) and stitched it up to create a new scar. Two days ago I went back in to have him do laser resurfacing and now I'm reading more about it online. The area is completely bloody and looks like a 3rd degree burn with a bunch of discharge. Is this normal or did the surgeon take laser too far?
Answer:
My friend had this done about a year ago and the same thing happened to her. It healed quite nicely. If you are worried about it though, call and make a follow-up appointment so they can check it for you.
