Any suggestions on how to stablize blood sugar?

My husband has been on oral meds for about 3 months- and his levels have been good until just a couple of days ago. He had a great reading of 95 before dinner on sat. And since sunday morning when he has checked it , it has not been lower that 187. Nothing different in his diet.
Answer:
Which oral med is he on? He may have a mild infection.Increase his soluble fiber intake. Make sure it's spread out evenly during the day and have him drinking plenty of water. He might be sneaking "bad carb" snacks.
if he is getting sick it can go up or if he is stressed
All I can think of is to diet and excercise at least half an hour each day
since his sugar reading is very high,it's very slow to come down fast even though he controls his diet.u r advised to take him check with DR asap.take care.
Go to a doctor immediately.
Drink half your body weight in water.so if you weigh 250 for example you should be drinking 125 oz. of water everyday.
well maybe you didn't see anything different in his diet or there was just more of the usual and you didn't notice.my grandmother was quite the sneak about the goodies.or could be an internal problem.if happens again id say see the doc.but may be a good idea do more dietary changes and give fats and proteins when it happens no starches no sugars.have snacks available that fit in the plan...in case he's sneakingther is an MD in Illinois i think it is got most diabetics sugar in control with diet only..i couldn't find her ..but do some research
she and the group does better then the American diabetic assoc. diet i read it in a veterans magazine last year.good luck.and you CAN excercise his body or get someone else to help do it..
just move the arms and legs back and forth even even a drive or a stroll in the wheel chair does good..
Go on-line %26 look up GYMNEMA.I have been using this with good results. I order from Puritan's Pride: GYMNEMA SYLVESTRE 400 mg. Natural Whole Herb...
The purpose of this product is to regulate blood sugar %26 keep insulin levels from going above normal levels...Look it up %26 Good Luck!
It is odd that his blood sugar levels have gone up when nothing has changed. You should bring him to see a doctor.
If exercise is out of the question, why isn't he on insulin?
Is he physically unable to exercise? Even walking would be enough to bring his blood glucose to an acceptable level.
If he can't walk, maybe a set of hand pedals would be better than sitting and hoping the glucose just burns off.
In addition to the gymnema sylvestre mentioned above, you might want to look into some other supplements (see my diabetes info page below). Exercise is only out of the question only if he's quadraplegic. If he can get in a pool and wave his arms around, he can exercise. If he can lay in bed and draw his knees up to his chest, he can exercise. As most have said, it's odd that it would suddenly come up if nothing has changed. If he's not stressed or ill, something changed. I would strongly urge you to get the $10.00 book I got and study it. There's lots of useful info in there for diabetics and their relatives. It's the second book I mention on my diabetes info page here:

Is he sick or ill in anyway? I would take him to his Dr. to see what is spiking the sugar. Could be the meds need to be changed or he may have gained a couple or few pounds, sometimes that will change good control.
High protein diet%26gt;
please visit this page you can get good answers. Get well soon!! May God Bless You! http://thediabeteszone.com/
If he is ill or comming down with something it could cause his level to go up even if he has not changed his diet. Try cutting down on carbs and have more protien. Just until his sugars are back to normal. Protien slows down the uptake of carbs and will help keep down his sugar level. Things that cause your sugar to go up not related to what you eat are illness, stress etc.
you might need to change medication, walmart has a $4.00 perscrition program, the whole cost of a perscrition is $4.00, does not require insurance, i use metformin 500mg to control my diabetes, cost $4.00. you can go to walmart.com and download all the information on this progam
